Senior Software Engineer

Description: Jive has developed a scalable, highly-available cloud platform to deliver enterprise-grade phone service to customers throughout the United States. The selected candidate would potentially be working throughout the entire stack of the platform from the Linux kernel to call handling logic and web applications.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have at least intermediate experience with one or more of the following:

    • Linux
    • C/C++
    • Python
    • Java
    • PostgreSQL

Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus:

    • Cassandra
    • PBX Platforms
    • OpenSIPS/OpenSER
    • SIP and RTP
    • XMPP (Jabber)

Web Application Developer

Description: Jive is a rapidly-growing, nationwide provider of enterprise-grade business phone service. Part of Jive’s core strengths is its engineering roots and focus on using technology to enhance business processes. Jive is looking to hire web application developers to increase its ability to deliver enhancements to internal and client-facing business processes. Potential candidates should have intermediate to advanced experience with web technologies.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have at least intermediate experience with one or more of the following:

    • Python
    • Django
    • Javascript
    • Databases

Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus:

    • HTML5
    • AJAX

Systems/Network Engineer

Description: Jive systems and network engineers develop and maintain the Jive Core Infrastructure which includes server software, hardware, data centers and network transport. Jive makes use of several open source software projects such as Linux, memcached, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra.
Responsibilities: Candidates will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

    • Learn new technologies and master the Jive Core infrastructure so that you can provide ‘full stack’ diagnostics, when necessary, to help determine the root cause of internal problems
    • Communicate effectively, and describe problems with sufficient detail that you can hand-off an ongoing problem to another team or a peer for completion
    • Strong troubleshooting skills that range from diagnosing low-level hardware issues to large scale failures within datacenter clusters
    • In-depth knowledge of Linux and TCP/IP
    • Scripting/programming proficiency: many of our tools are command-line based and the ability to quickly manipulate text and file input/output is a must. Most tools are developed using Bash and Python.
    • Develop and publish test reports and communicate findings to team members.
    • Diagnose and root cause of system failures and isolate the components, driver, BIOS, or firmware failures.
    • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies and provided remedy for catastrophic failure events.
    • Provision and troubleshoot lan-phy and wan-phy transport circuits
    • Troubleshoot packet loss and latency
    • Provision public and private peering relationships

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have at least intermediate experience with one or more of the following:

    • Ability to rapidly assess, analyze, and resolve complicated networking issues
    • Good knowledge of basic large-scale Internet service architectures
    • Familiarity with server hardware
    • Configuration and maintenance of common applications such as Apache, memcached, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP
    • Detail-oriented
    • Familiar with BGP and ISIS/OSPF

Field/Sales Engineer

Description: Jive is looking for a network professional to assist our sales team when answering technical questions. The selected candidate will make recommendations to ensure an optimal hosted voice and video deployment into a client.s existing network environment. This individual will also be responsible for field installs and top-tier network support. This individual will be required to quickly learn and troubleshoot new technologies with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities: Candidates will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

    • Conducts customer site surveys as required to insure successful installation of services
    • Provides technical sales support to insure successful customer integration and implementation of Jive solutions
    • Designs voice and data network solutions for customer applications, including preparation of network topologies and technical specifications
    • Provide on-site support and product installation
    • Learn and troubleshoot new technologies in order to deploy and integrate to client specifications
    • Handle complex questions encountered during installation and turn-up concerning solution design and equipment operation
    • Travel required for installations and pre-sales appointments (majority of travel will be within the state of California)

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have at least intermediate experience with one or more of the following:

    • Three or more years of networking experience
    • Proven practical experience with networking equipment, firewalls, routers, and related network technologies such as IPv4, VLANs, VoIP, SIP, QoS
    • Well acquainted with Cisco IOS
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication

Experience Experience with any of the following is a plus:

    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or other Cisco experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience with Adtran AOS is a plus
    • Intercom and paging system installation and support
